According to some media reports after a long wait and a long period of homework, the postponed grade 12 examination 2077 will be held online for 40 marks of total marks.

The National Examination Board (NEB) has recommended the government to conduct an online examination of 40 marks out of 100 marks, experimental marks of 20 marks, and total marks of class 11 in the remaining 40 marks.

This decision will be implemented after the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology sends a proposal to the Council of Ministers for approval of this mixed format examination.

According to an official of the ministry of education, the government will make a decision soon regarding the grade 12 examination as per the board’s recommendation. The government has already issued Student Learning Facilitation Directive-2077 so that those who do not have access to online can use other means of information technology as well.

Krishna Prasad Sharma, Controller of Examinations of the National Examination Board for classes 11 and 12, said that the schedule of online examination for 40 marks would be published after the government decides on this option if other alternatives of class 12 exam are not possible.

When giving the class 12 exam online, students will have access to textbooks and resources, even if they have to prepare answers at a certain time from their place of residence. As there will be no examination center, guards, and security personnel, it will be an open examination in away.

Grade 12 examination has become uncertain after the second lockdown in the country. The examination scheduled for Baisakh 8 was postponed due to the lockdown. A total of 432,000 students had applied for the class 12 examination.

The board has published the information on September 10 and has requested to provide the details within seven days if the students who have applied for the grade 12 examination have migrated to other districts due to the corona epidemic or other reasons.

The examination of class 12 will not be held before Dashain. According to the Chairman of the National Examination Board, Prof. Dr. Chandramani Poudel, there is no possibility of conducting the grade 12 examination before Dashain as the corona infection rate is increasing day by day.

As there is a final examination at the secondary level and it should also have international recognition, the board has suggested the option of conducting the class 12 examination in a mixed format. The ministry had formed a separate task force comprising ministry officials and board officials to suggest about how to conduct grade 12 examination.

Due to the Nobel coronavirus pandemic, various education boards in Nepal have either postponed the board exams or decided to determine the exam grade based on the interim evaluation of the school. National Examination Board ( NEB) had already published the SEE Result 2077 from the internal evaluation of the school.

Recently Tribhuwan University had also postponed its annual examination after Dashain. Office of the Controller Examination of Tribhuwan University is preparing to conduct the TU Examination from Mangsir 20 to Chaitra.

Similarly, the annual examination of grade 11, which was postponed due to lockdown, will be taken by the concerned school from this year. The National Curriculum Evaluation and Development Council chaired by the Minister of Education had decided to conduct the NEB grade 11 examination at the school level.

After the implementation of the Education Act (2028) (Eighth Amendment) 2073 BS, the then Higher Secondary Education Council was disbanded and transformed into the National Examination Board. The work related to school permit, scholarship, school operation will be managed from the local level and the work related to curriculum development, development and equivalence determination will be done by the curriculum development center.

While preparations are being made to conduct the 10th and 11th class examinations at the state and local levels by preparing a legal structure, this year has automatically gone for internal assessment due to the corona epidemic, policy and legal arrangements are being made for its management from next year.

Constitutionally, the operation and management of secondary education is under the jurisdiction of the local level and the establishment of examination mechanism accordingly has been delayed due to corona epidemic.
